A consumer report found that more than half of today’s most popular lipstick brands — primarily the high-end versions — contain lead. Specifically, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics (safecosmetics.org) said tests on 33 brand-name red lipsticks by the Bodycote Testing Group in Santa Fe Spring, Calif., found that 61 percent had detectable levels of lead.
